full moon, vaultful of stars

i kept inshore. i thought i heard
a nightingale.
a blue animal path running across the vast field.
a full moon, a Venus as large as my fist,
a Great Bear and a vaultful of stars
what i saw over the sight was quite
different from what could be seen with the ordinary eye.
my head was clear:
one lacks words to describe what the
deep forest is like at night
when you know the green birds are asleep overhead.

Pablo Neruda

I love this image - so evocative and the same deep wild beauty of the poem that is being shared here to keep it from disappearing 'pon retirement from above banner.
I do lack words to describe the deep forest at night when the green birds are asleep but a few words that come to mind:

dreaming
alive
and dusky.

hmmm.

That there should be mahogany in this world - it is like waking up to dip into such mystical rivers of poems and thoughts and words and worlds. mmm, more please.

oh winnie the pooh evokes sweetness, like gentleness deep within. mmm, I do know what you mean by Mellow Joy...like the kind you feel before you fall asleep on a summer dark blue night with a breeze over you, and the sky studded with stars. oh yes.
