that washed clean feeling

I am a wisher of washed up fairy tales in corked wine bottles from stranded lovers on mysterious islands.
Kendl Winter

There's nothing like the ocean to provide both deep quietness and openness to the unknown. There's something about the ocean (maybe especially on the craggy Oregon coast?) that is so wild and free and opens up your soul...

A happy literary association about loving the sea comes from Anne of Green Gables' book when she and Gilbert are married and living by the sea...House of Dreams. One of the treasures of their life is walking by the ocean in the evening salty air, and then becoming friends with Cap'n Jim. His dear stories of being on the sea hold them captive over firelight on long winter nights. I picture Cap'n Jim returning to this calm shore and his grin lighting up as he comes in to his waiting friends...

how lovely to hop on the wondrous gypsy wagon!
these rolling waves draw me in with a soothing beauty! ah, waves of mercy, waves of grace.
