Wow, what an absolute wonderment it was to go traipsing off to Mt. Hood wilderness area with a hiking group and find that amidst the sweet beginnings of talking, looking amongst the trees in the climb up, and generally having sweet time, that all of a sudden we would be amongst such stunning big views. It was the deep joy of taking in wilderness views while on a saturday ramble. wow. and to continue along the ridge seeing big and beatiful Mt. Hood (of my little four-year-old-hugging-Heidi-timberline-lodge-memories) this time peaceful and looming behind fields of hearty long lasting blue red and yellow mountain flowers...Well that's just it isn't it ? the rest of the terrain was so lovely too...
mountains streams careening over mossy rocks
sun dappled trees, ferns that remind you of the power of rain water
roots scrabbling this way and that like hobbit doorways
big grasses the smelled of earth and were --as so many sweet grasses are--deeply evocative of being back at triple creek...
so happy to be finding that the western side has a homeyness to it and yet sparkles with newness too. and that a hiking group is actually a pretty fun way to hang out with people who go to your church. that you sort of go to. ha!

your lovely word pictures are so rich and satisfying; tasty treats for my mind and imagination to linger over; words that capture the mood of the stream or the gladness of you venturing out and entering in. I especially like the mountain stream photo and the startling majesty of Mt Hood against the Oregon blue sky.
what a fun-cool way to meet new people
